Daily Wire editor and top-rated conservative podcaster Ben Shapiro recently tried out his best Trump impression as he recounted the story of his first meeting with the former president via Trending Politics News.
“It was funny, it was very funny,” Shapiro said of his first meeting with Donald Trump. He explained how he was called over by the former president while waiting in a photo line. “And Trump is like, ‘Ben Shapiro, Ben Shapiro. Really enjoy your work, Ben Shapiro. You used to love Ron DeSantis. I think you’re going to love us a lot more. I think you’re going to really enjoy being with us,’” Shapiro continued while attempting his best Trump impression.
Shapiro was an outspoken opponent of then-candidate Trump in the 2016 presidential election, having favored Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). Midway through the campaign, he announced his resignation as editor-in-chief of Breitbart News, citing allegations of assault against Michelle Fields, a reporter for the publication, and the outlet’s pro-Trump stance by then-Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
After Trump’s election in 2016, he changed his mind, albeit he still disagrees with many of his policy stances.
Shapiro chose to back Florida Governor Ron DeSantis during the Republican primary, but he has already embraced the former president Trump and plans to raise money for him instead.
. “It’s time for the party to coalesce around the guy who is going to beat Joe Biden. And that guy is Donald Trump,” Shapiro said after Trump’s early primary victories.
