Biden Rejects Republicans After Impeachment Bombshell

President Joe Biden will not be testifying in front of the U.S. House of Representatives members conducting an impeachment inquiry against him, according to the White House. Special Counsel to the President Richard Sauber stated in a letter to House Oversight Chairman James Comer that Biden would not participate in what Sauber described as a “partisan charade.”

Sauber argued that the committee’s impeachment inquiry has only uncovered evidence that the president has done nothing wrong and criticized the committee for persisting with “false and unsupported allegations.” Comer and his fellow Republicans have claimed that their investigation has found evidence of financial transactions from foreign businesses and individuals to members of the Biden family during Biden’s time as vice president.

Comer’s March invitation for the president to testify cited a discrepancy between Biden’s public statements and the evidence gathered by the committee. However, the White House maintains that President Biden had no involvement in the business dealings of his son and brother.

Comer expressed his disappointment that President Biden was unwilling to testify publicly, accusing him of avoiding questions and lacking transparency. It remains unclear if lawmakers are considering subpoenaing the president, as the White House did not respond to inquiries on whether the president would comply with a subpoena.
