January 6th Cop Drops ‘Sick’ Trump Bombshell

Michael Fanone, a retired officer from the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia and a survivor of the January 6th Capitol riot, expressed open disdain for former President Donald Trump’s continued support of January 6th rioters. These individuals, many of whom are currently in jail awaiting adjudication, were involved in the violent attack on the Capitol, resulting in assaults on Fanone and other law enforcement officers.

In a recent appearance on “Morning Joe,” Fanone was asked by co-host Willie Geist about his reaction to Trump publicly supporting and even appearing alongside rioters who assaulted police officers. Geist mentioned that Trump had been seen on the campaign trail with his hand over his heart during a rendition of the national anthem by a choir of individuals who had been tried, convicted, and incarcerated for their roles in the January 6th events.

Geist asked Fanone how it felt to hear Trump express support for these rioters and to know that Trump has suggested he could release them or offer pardons if he became president again. Fanone’s response was direct and harsh, highlighting his disgust for Trump and his supporters who back those who attacked law enforcement on that day:

“I mean, I think you know me well enough that you can only imagine what my reaction is. But listen, Donald Trump is sick. He’s a sick individual. And the idea that he would align himself with criminals who attacked and assaulted law enforcement officers who were only there doing their job is sick. And anybody that would support that is equally demented.”
