Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci offered some stark advice for the Biden campaign during his appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Scaramucci suggested that the Biden campaign should focus on labeling former President Donald Trump as a rapist, repeatedly using the term to emphasize his point. This comes in light of the civil court decision where Trump was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation in the case involving E. Jean Carroll.
Scaramucci discussed the challenges of leveraging the over 1.2 million COVID-19 deaths as a campaign issue, noting that some of the circumstances were beyond presidential control. He stated that both President Biden and Trump could face personal scrutiny over situational crises like COVID-19 and inflation.
However, Mika Brzezinski of Morning Joe countered by highlighting Trump’s early mishandling and misinformation regarding COVID-19. In response, Scaramucci pivoted to Trump’s legal troubles, emphasizing the civil court finding where a jury deemed Trump responsible for sexual abuse. Scaramucci argued that focusing on Trump’s character flaws, specifically his legal issues and the civil court’s verdict, would be more effective for the Biden campaign.
“You know, he’s been in the courts. Mika, they say that he’s a rapist. You have 12 people in a civil court, not a criminal court, that said that he is a rapist. I would be talking about things like that,” Scaramucci insisted. He emphasized that the Biden campaign should repeatedly highlight Trump’s dishonesty and the serious accusations against him, suggesting that these points would be more damaging and relevant in the political landscape.
Scaramucci concluded by stressing the importance of hammering Trump on these issues daily, indicating that focusing on Trump’s personal misconduct and legal troubles could be a more strategic approach for the Biden campaign.
