Andrew Cuomo Attacks Democrats For Trump

In a recent interview with Bill Maher, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo expressed strong criticism of the legal cases against former President Donald Trump pursued by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Cuomo argued that these cases were politically motivated and would not have been brought against anyone other than Trump.

Cuomo, himself a former Attorney General of New York, asserted, “That case, the attorney general’s case in New York, should have never been brought. And if his name was not Donald Trump and he wasn’t running for president — I’m the former A.G. of New York, I’m telling you, that case would have never been brought.” His statement suggests that the legal actions against Trump are viewed as unjustified and driven by political considerations rather than legal merit.

On top of that, Cuomo pointed out the lack of significant impact these cases have had on public opinion or on President Biden’s political standing. Despite hopes among Biden’s supporters that Trump’s legal troubles would bolster the president’s image, polls conducted after the verdict showed Trump actually gaining support. Maher echoed this sentiment, highlighting the massive fundraising success of the Trump Campaign and the Republican National Committee in the immediate aftermath of the trial.
