Democrats Have ‘Two Ways’ To Replace Biden

Questions are arising about whether Joe Biden will remain the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election following his problematic debate performance against former President Donald Trump. This speculation was highlighted on Maria Bartiromo’s “Sunday Morning Futures” program when she questioned U.S. Senator John Barrasso, R-Wyo., the Senate GOP conference chairman, about Biden’s future on the ticket.

Bartiromo asked Barrasso if he believed Joe Biden should be replaced as the Democratic nominee. Barrasso explained that Democrats are currently debating two possible approaches: replacing Biden on the ticket or replacing him as president. He pointed out that both scenarios would leave Vice President Kamala Harris in a prominent position, who he thinks could be a less favorable option than Biden.

To replace Biden as president would require invoking the 25th Amendment, which involves the president’s Cabinet making the decision to remove him. Barrasso criticized the current Cabinet members, accusing them of being complicit in covering up Biden’s deficiencies. He pointed out how these same people have repeatedly claimed Biden is fit and capable, a narrative that, according to Barrasso, was clearly contradicted by Biden’s debate performance.

Barrasso even talked about the internal conflict within the Democratic Party, as some members have started to express doubts about Biden’s capacity to continue as the nominee or even as president. He stated, “Senators on the Democratic side of the ticket have been for years, months saying, ‘Hey, this guy is doing great. He is 100%, fit as a fiddle, sharp as a tack.’ He is not. The American people and the world saw that the other night. So the Democrats are going to have to make their own decisions about how to handle this terrible situation that they have put our country in.”
