In a recent podcast interview on the “Lex Fridman Podcast,” Ivanka Trump, former President Trump’s daughter and ex-adviser, reflected on her father’s ongoing legal challenges and recent conviction.
“On a human level, it’s my father, and I love him very much,” she expressed. “So, it’s painful to experience. But ultimately, I wish it didn’t have to be this way.”
Fridman shared his hope that amidst the legal turmoil, love prevails.
“It usually does,” Ivanka responded.
The former president faces four criminal indictments and was convicted of 34 felony counts in a hush money case in May. Recently, the Supreme Court ruled in his favor, granting broad immunity to presidents for official acts.
The court’s decision returns the federal case concerning Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, 2021, to a lower court. Regardless of how the case unfolds, the justices’ 6-3 decision likely postpones his trial beyond Election Day.
Scheduled initially for next week, the former president’s sentencing in the hush money case has been postponed until September. This delay allows the judge to consider whether the immunity ruling impacts the guilty verdict.
While Ivanka served as a senior adviser in her father’s administration, she has opted not to join him on the campaign trail this time. Instead, she is focusing on raising her young children, noting the pervasive “darkness” in politics.
