Dr. Tom Pitts, a neurologist, has raised concerns about President Joe Biden’s health, suggesting that Biden might be exhibiting symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. During an interview on NBC News’ “Top Story with Tom Llamas,” Pitts discussed Biden’s public behavior and how it could indicate neurological degeneration. This conversation is happening as there are increasing calls for Biden to reconsider his candidacy for re-election. Biden, 81, remains steadfast in his belief that he is the best candidate to defeat 78-year-old Donald Trump.
“I see him 20 times a day in clinic,” Pitts said of Biden. “It’s ironic because he has the classic features of neurodegeneration, word-finding difficulties, and that’s not, oh, I couldn’t find the word, that’s from degeneration of the word retrieval area.
Pitts highlighted several signs that he believes point to neurodegeneration in Biden, such as difficulty finding words and physical rigidity. While acknowledging Biden’s known stutter, Pitts argued that the cognitive and physical symptoms together suggest a more serious issue. He mentioned that he often sees similar symptoms in patients at his clinic.
Rumors about Biden’s health intensified following a New York Times report that noted frequent visits to the White House by a doctor specializing in Parkinson’s disease. The president’s physician explained that this doctor has been visiting for years and is well-versed in a variety of medical issues. Despite this, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, during a press conference, reiterated that Biden is not receiving treatment for Parkinson’s.
“The problem is when you look at his situation, you can’t say, oh, I know for a fact that because he didn’t retrieve the word, he didn’t know what he wanted to say and that’s why both him and Trump should take the four hour neuropsychological testing which is the hallmark test for cognitive performance,” the doctor said.
Biden’s team has attributed his hoarse voice during a recent CNN debate to a cold, and noted that he was likely jet-lagged from a recent trip to Europe. Pitts proposed that both Biden and Trump should undergo thorough cognitive testing, which would include tasks such as block building and memory recall exercises, to assess their mental fitness.
