House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan is set to send a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday, demanding clarification on several issues related to security lapses that contributed to the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. This comes after hearing from multiple whistleblowers from the United States Secret Service.

The Daily Caller obtained a copy of Jordan’s letter, which reveals that the USSS whistleblowers reported to the committee that resources were stretched thin during the period of the incident due to simultaneous high-profile events: the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., and a campaign rally for First Lady Jill Biden in Pittsburgh. Jordan’s letter details that on July 8, 2024, the USSS held briefings with the Western Pennsylvania Fusion Center and other stakeholders about the upcoming events involving Trump and Biden. Special Agent in Charge Tim Burke reportedly informed law enforcement partners about the limited resources available because of these overlapping duties, with FBI personnel present at the briefings.

Jordan’s letter expresses concerns about the security failures leading to the assassination attempt, which is the first such attempt on a president in over forty years. He also questions the FBI’s ability to conduct a swift and thorough investigation, given recent controversies. Jordan emphasizes the need for comprehensive answers during Wray’s upcoming testimony on July 24, 2024, to address these issues effectively.
