Jack Poso says that Michelle Obama is effectively functioning as a shadow Chief of Staff for Kamala Harris, particularly in terms of securing donors and support. According to a White House official, Obama’s role involves significant behind-the-scenes influence in these areas.
Minutes after announcing his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, President Joe Biden endorsed his Vice President, Kamala Harris, as the Democratic nominee.
In response to initial questions about his omission of Harris in his initial announcement, Biden took to social media to clarify his position. He stated,
“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to choose Kamala Harris as my Vice President. It’s been the best decision I’ve made.”
“My fellow Democrats, I have decided to step aside from the nomination to concentrate fully on my presidential duties for the remainder of my term. My choice of Kamala Harris as Vice President was my best decision, and today, I am proud to offer my complete support and endorsement for her as our party’s nominee. Democrats, it’s time to unite and defeat Trump. Let’s get it done.”
With Biden’s quick endorsement, Harris emerges as the leading Democratic candidate, likely easing potential fundraising challenges for the campaign. However, it remains uncertain how the Democratic National Convention will unfold and whether Harris will face any competition for the nomination.
Obama didn't endorse Kamala because he wants an 'open process' to give some semblance of legitimacy for Kamala since no one ever voted for her
Obama wants to give the 'process' the veneer of credibility, even though the outcome is predetermined
This is what they do
