President Joe Biden is scheduled to address the nation Wednesday night in a prime-time address. It has been noted that he will discuss his decision to drop out of the presidential race, which he announced Sunday.
This news comes a day after he made his first public appearance during a Monday event at Biden-Harris campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware. There he addressed staffers via phone call. Biden has been recovering from COVID-19 in his Rehoboth, Delaware, beach house, dealing with unprecedented intraparty pressure that eventually led to his stepping down.
After Biden’s shocking but predictable announcement that he was withdrawing, he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the nomination. Several top Democratic officials quickly followed suit. By Monday night, Harris officially became the presumptive Democratic nominee as enough Biden delegates officially went all in on supporting her as the nominee.
Also, in the last 24 hour hours, several conspiracies surrounding Biden’s presence sprang up on social media and some cable news networks, suggesting his lack of public presence or signature to the letter he was dropping out was evidence of some sort of “coup” or broader conspiracy. His public address should put to rest the absurd suggestion made repeatedly on less than-responsible cable news outlets.
