Former South Carolina Governor and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has taken legal action against a political action committee (PAC) that supports Vice President Kamala Harris. The PAC, originally named “Haley Voters for Biden,” recently rebranded as “Haley Voters for Harris” (HV4H) after President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race.
Haley, who initially challenged former President Donald Trump during the GOP primary and later endorsed him, sent a cease-and-desist letter to HV4H. The letter demands that the PAC stop using any name that includes “Nikki” or “Haley,” and threatens legal action if they continue to use these names for fundraising or other purposes. Haley’s attorney warned that any fundraising under the name “Haley Voters for Harris” could be reported to the Federal Election Commission, and potentially lead to investigations by the FBI and Department of Justice for possible fraud under 18 U.S.C. §1343.
The letter gave emphasis to the fact that Haley has consistently supported Harris’s opponent and accused HV4H of misleading the public by implying Haley’s support for Harris. Despite this, HV4H has refused to comply with Haley’s demands, expressing their determination to continue their activities under the current name.
