On Friday, former President Donald Trump warned that a major conflict in the Middle East and possibly a third world war could occur if he does not win the upcoming November election. He made this statement during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, just a day after Netanyahu’s visit to the White House to meet President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump suggested that if he wins, things would stabilize quickly. However, he claimed that without his leadership, the world is at greater risk of a third world war than ever before since World War II due to what he described as the incompetence of current U.S. leadership.
Previously, Trump has expressed concerns about global instability, citing conflicts between Israel and Hamas and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He has also predicted dire economic consequences, including a stock market crash, if he does not reclaim the presidency.
The meeting with Netanyahu occurred during a turbulent time in the presidential race. Biden announced that he would not seek reelection and endorsed Harris as the party’s nominee. Harris has garnered significant support from Democrats and is expected to be the nominee in November.
During her separate meeting with Netanyahu, Harris described the talks as “frank and constructive,” expressing support for Israel’s right to self-defense while also voicing serious concerns about the plight of Palestinians in Gaza.
Trump, while critical of Netanyahu at times following the recent attacks on Israel and the subsequent conflict in Gaza, highlighted his administration’s strong support for Israel, including moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal.
Melania Trump did not accompany him during this visit. Trump criticized the current situation of hostages held by Hamas, calling it unacceptable and questioning their condition, demanding their immediate release.
