After Taylor Swift publicly endorsed Kamala Harris in her 2024 presidential bid, former President Donald Trump wasn’t exactly prepared for the cultural shift. Following the endorsement of Harris and her running mate Tim Walz after a debate, Trump was asked about Swift’s support. Despite previously sharing AI-generated images of Swift supposedly backing him, Trump made it clear he had never been a fan of the pop superstar.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump expressed his preference for Brittany Mahomes, the wife of NFL player Patrick Mahomes, who had shown support for him in the past. Trump mentioned that Brittany Mahomes’ liking one of his social media posts had stirred controversy, especially after Swift was seen embracing Brittany at a public event.
During the interview, Trump reiterated that he had always expected Swift to endorse a Democrat, noting her liberal stance. He went on to claim that she might face consequences in the marketplace for her political stance.
Swift, in response to the situation, took to Instagram to clarify her position. She condemned the use of AI-generated images falsely showing her support for Trump, stressing the importance of transparency. In her post, she praised Harris’ leadership style, expressing her hopes for a future of “calm, not chaos.” Swift also encouraged her fans to vote and register, sharing resources to help first-time voters get involved.
She closed the message with a light-hearted sign-off as “Childless Cat Lady,” referencing a controversial remark made by J.D. Vance, Trump’s running mate, about single women in the Democratic Party.
