Alvin Bragg Runs Away From Testifying After…

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has indicated his willingness to testify regarding the prosecution of Donald Trump for falsified business records, but not until after Trump’s sentencing in July. Bragg’s office expressed their commitment to voluntary cooperation with House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan’s request for Bragg to testify before the Weaponization of the Government subcommittee on June 13.

In a letter from Bragg’s general counsel Leslie Dubeck to Chairman Jordan, it was stated that the District Attorney’s office is open to providing testimony at an agreed-upon date, considering scheduling conflicts and the ongoing trial proceedings in the case against Trump. The letter emphasized the need to protect the fair administration of justice and suggested that testifying at a later date would be more appropriate.

Chairman Jordan had previously suggested that he would subpoena Bragg if necessary and questioned why Bragg would wait until after Trump’s sentencing to testify. Jordan’s concerns were outlined in a letter dated May 31, where he raised issues regarding politically motivated prosecutions, specifically targeting President Trump.

In addition to Bragg, Jordan also penned a letter to Matthew Colangelo, a former DOJ official and prosecutor in the Trump case. The letter addressed Bragg’s decision to step away from the probe into Trump’s affairs involving Stormy Daniels prior to Colangelo’s involvement in the Manhattan DA’s office in December 2022.
