It has been noted that Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) recently reckoned during an interview that former President Donald Trump’s attempted assassination was part of a wider conspiracy to try “to kill him” via Mediaite
It has been noted that the 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump in the ear at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. A rally-goer lost his life while two others were wounded. Crooks was a registered Republican who donated $15 on a Democratic fundraising website. According to the FBI, Crooks searched for upcoming public appearances by Trump and President Joe Biden.
During a Thursday interview with Fox Business anchor Stuart Varney, Mills indicated the shooter was part of a broader effort to stop Trump:
MILLS: So, you know, I just want to look at this from a completely open perspective. I don’t take anything off the table, but, you know, they tried to silence him, they tried to imprison him. And now they tried to kill him.
VARNEY: He was a meddlesome priest, is what he was called.
Mills: That’s right.
VARNEY: …Just precise language there.
The quote cited is often attributed to King Henry II of England while discussing Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Becket, who was eventually murdered in 1170.
GOP Rep. Cory Mills: "Now they tried to kill him."
Varney: "Yeah."
