Mark Hunt has lost the hunt against UFC, Dana White and Brock Lesnar. The six-year-long legal battle has ended as the remainder of Hunt’s case has been called down by the U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey.
Hunt made a serious claim against WWE star Brock Lesnar about using performance-enhancing drugs in the ill-fated fight on July 9, 2016. The case that was revived in 2021 following an appeals court’s decision to reverse battery, fraud and conspiracy claims is now over for all parties.
U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey stated that Hunt couldn’t prove the claims of the trio misleading him, and allowing Lesnar to use performance-enhancing drugs. The UFC 200 bout took place and Hunt lost to Lesnar. In a 27-page opinion the judge noted, what was first reported by Conduct Detrimental writer Jason Morrin.
In sum, each of Hunt’s fraud theories requires far too many inferential leaps and ignores too much contrary evidence for a jury to reasonably find in his favor, particularly by clear and convincing evidence.
According to MMA Fighting, The result was turned over to a no-contest at a later date when Lesnar tested positive and was found using multiple banned substances. He was later suspended for one year by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and the Nevada Athletic Commission. Notably, Lesnar got an exemption from a four-month drug testing window required for returning fighters before UFC 200.
I tried to make things even on the battle field of MMA, but again, the cheating company, Dana White, UFC with all its billions, they ripped everyone off win again. Someone will die against a steroid-using cheater, and your s*** ripoff company will be at fault, UFC.
I’m done fighting. I think I lost the passion a long time ago when I filed this lawsuit against the UFC. They took that passion away from me, to be honest. The only fight I’ve had since I left the UFC was a boxing match, [and] I couldn’t get another match anywhere. I don’t think any company would pick me up because of this lawsuit, to be honest.
Hunt sued the UFC, White and Lesnar in 2017 for misconduct, fraud and breach of contract. Judge Dorsey ruled against Hunt in two of his three cases, and with this one also against him, it looks like Hunt has no hope. Hunt believes he has been ‘blacklisted’ despite skidding his contract in 2018 and following the three-fights.
