Drew McIntyre Leaks WWE Backlash Winner?

WWE star Drew McIntyre has been in pursuit of the WWE title for a long time now. He will get another shot at the WWE Title at WrestleMania Backlash as he will take on Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match.

He has been in the title picture since winning the Royal Rumble match last year. However, during a conversation on Sunday Night’s Main Event, Drew pitched an idea that would take him out of the title picture after losing to Bobby Lashley and pairs him up with a former friend. Drew McIntyre wants to get paired with Jinder Mahal

McIntyre expressed his desire to be involved in storyline with former WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal, who is also his real life friend. He explained having a history with him will bring out the best story out of them and he is more focused to being a part of good storyline .

He explained:

“I always look for the best story, I think that’s important. I’ve been chasing the title for a long time, but I don’t know if it’d be the worst thing in the world for me to step away from that for a minute and get into a serious story, which brings me back to the title.”

Previously, Mahal and McIntyre were also part of a stable called 3MB in the past. McIntyre said that following Mahal’s return he has not been in a storyline and pairing him up with Mahal would be a great idea. He also spoke about how Mahal’s title reign and his title reign were differently taken by the fans.

He added:

I see Jinder Mahal looking healthy right now and I don’t see him in a story. I hoping Jinder and I get to do something down the line. Much like Sheamus and I, we have a real history with each other. The more real, the more people can invest because you’re not just making up something. Maybe Jinder is a little upset that when he won the World Title three years before I did, people weren’t happy about it and they keep ranking it as one of the worst title reigns ever while mine was universally praised. He’s been out a year and a half, maybe he feels disrespected. There’s a lot of possibility from a storyline perspective as to why Jinder Mahal would come after Drew McIntyre. I feel we could do some cool stuff together because we have such a history.

Mahal recently returned to television on the latest episode of WWE Main Event and defeated Jeff Hardy. He hasn’t been seen on WWE Raw since defeating Akira Tozawa on the April 27, 2020 episode.
