Maven was once one of the most respected wrestlers in the business. It’s because he was the 2001 Tough Enough winner alongside Nidia Guenard. This journey was exceptional and he had a good four year run with the WWE.
It was only during the attack on his finger during his match with Hardcore Holly on SmackDown that things changed for the wrestler. Holly stomped on his hand while hitting a double ax handle off the top rope. The pain was immense and he took a prescription from what the WWE’s medical team had given him.
Maven faced troubles after taking his first painkiller
Maven got into a problem after taking the painkiller. He remembers vividly on what happened to him after taking the pill. The wrestler felt he was high after it, and immediately knew that something was off.
By this point, I had been out of WWE for going on seven years. I had a career where I wasn’t getting beaten on, I wasn’t taking bumps, but by this point, my body had taken a significant beating. By this point, I was completely addicted… I was taking on average between 35 and 50 painkillers every day.
I was using doctors, and here’s where I’d get in trouble. On one week, I would visit one doctor and I would get my prescription filled. The following week, because I had run out, I would visit another doctor and I would get the exact same prescription filled.
SEScoops reports that It was sometime later that he was arrested by a detective who was looking into his activities. Maven didn’t have a good time after that as his new job outside of the WWE was gone and he remembers those days very clearly. In a recent video, the wrestler recalls his time and how he has only focused on getting rid of his addiction.
