Senator John Fetterman has dismissed concerns raised by veteran Democratic strategist James Carville about President Joe Biden’s prospects in the 2024 election. In an interview with Politico, Fetterman criticized Carville, urging him to “shut the f*** up” and questioning his relevance, stating, “My man hasn’t been relevant since grunge was a thing.”
Fetterman expressed frustration with Carville’s remarks, defending President Biden as an “incredibly strong and decent and excellent president” facing challenging circumstances. Carville has been vocal about his pessimism regarding Biden’s chances in the upcoming election, warning Democrats about the potential for a loss.
“I’ll use this [as] another opportunity to tell James Carville to shut the F*** up,” Fetterman said. He added, “My man hasn’t been relevant since grunge was a thing. And I don’t know why he believes it’s helpful to say these kinds of things about an incredibly difficult circumstance with an incredibly strong and decent and excellent president.”
In response to Fetterman’s comments, Carville defended his relevance, highlighting that two Senate Democrats seeking reelection have sought his assistance in their campaigns. He also sarcastically remarked that he is “glad [Fetterman is] feeling better.”
The exchange reflects internal tensions within the Democratic Party regarding the perceived challenges and vulnerabilities of President Biden as the 2024 election approaches.
