According to documents and social media posts reviewed by the New York Post, billionaire Democratic donor George Soros is allegedly funding a group of TikTok personalities to support Joe Biden’s re-election campaign, promote left-wing causes, and criticize conservatives.
The Open Societies Foundation, funded by George Soros, reportedly donated $5.5 million to the nonprofit organization Accelerate Action Inc. between 2020 and 2021. Accelerate Action Inc. is said to have funneled at least $300,000 in 2022 to another nonprofit organization called Gen Z for Change. Gen Z for Change reportedly employs over 500 “activists, organizers, and creators,” and their activities include advocating for causes such as climate justice, racial justice, indigenous rights, and gender equality.
The Biden Administration has reportedly used Gen Z for Change to promote its policy goals and achievements on social media platforms. This includes briefing social media influencers, like TikTok personalities, on various issues. For example, in June 2022, the White House held a briefing on the war in Ukraine for social media personalities, including TikTok influencer Ellie Zeiler, who has over 10 million followers. Zeiler produced a video in which she discussed inflation and suggested that Russia was to blame for high gas prices. Gen Z for Change influencers were also reportedly briefed on Biden Administration COVID policy and climate change.
Gen Z for Change founder Aidan Kohn-Murphy has stated that the group supports progressive policies like Medicare for all, the Green New Deal, and Palestinian liberation. The group has reportedly partnered with the Democratic National Committee and the White House. According to documents, a significant portion of Accelerate Action’s funding came from Soros’ foundation, making it the primary donor to Gen Z for Change.
An Open Society Foundations spokesperson commented that they support organizations that aim to enhance civic participation and promote inclusive and open societies.
