WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has been away from the company. It was on March 20 that Fightful Select reported that Goldberg was a free agent after his WWE contract expired at the end of 2022. This fueled rumors of an AEW debut.
Goldberg is now a free agent, and it is unknown where he will go next. The pro wrestling world started talking about Goldberg in a big way when it was revealed that he believes WWE owes him another match. Then news came out that he has no matches left on his deal, only time kept him under WWE’s umbrella, but that clock ran out.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that Goldberg’s free agency is nothing new. He’s been a free agent since January 1st, but nobody has snagged him to a new deal yet. That being said, there has been some interest:
“In regards to Goldberg’s free agency status, it isn’t necessarily new. We’re told be became a free agent on January 1, and that Tony Khan has had to interact with his reps for other deals as well. Goldberg’s last match was February 2022, but there was still time on his deal. Goldberg has several companies already interested in booking him, including one in Israel.”
It was not noted which companies are interested in Goldberg, but the one in Israel might be a possibility. Goldberg has stated in the past that he wants his last match to take place in Israel.
Goldberg made his return to WWE in 2016 and reignited his rivalry with Lesnar, defeating The Beast Incarnate at that year’s Survivor Series in very short order. Since that return, Goldberg has competed on another 11 occasions for the company, capturing the Universal Championship on two occasions.
The former WWE Universal Champion has been away from WWE. His last match took place at Elimination Chamber in February, when he had challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. However, he was unsuccessful in his attempt.
