The source indicated that Biden’s family, including his wife Jill and sister Valerie, who are known for providing wise counsel rather than just cheerleading, are standing firmly by his side. Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, has been notably present at the White House recently, earning the moniker “the acting chief of staff” from a well-connected lawyer/lobbyist Democrat. Hunter’s increased visibility is seen as an effort to bolster his father, reminiscent of the support once provided by his late brother Beau.
A Democrat who worked with Biden earlier in his career mentioned that Biden’s support for Hunter during difficult times is reciprocated now, highlighting that this dynamic is more about family loyalty than political strategy. “This is more of a family thing than a political thing. It has nothing to do with his criminal cases, it’s much more about how the family operates,” the Democrat said.
According to a report from NBC News on July 2, Hunter Biden has been joining meetings with Joe Biden and his top aides since the president returned from Camp David. People familiar with the situation revealed that Hunter has also been engaging with senior White House staff members. Although it is unusual for Hunter to be involved in his father’s meetings, his presence has been noted during several discussions.
One individual familiar with the matter stated that Hunter has been closely advising his father since the family’s gathering at Camp David after the recent debate. This person mentioned that Hunter has occasionally “popped into” meetings and phone calls with the president’s advisers.
“What the hell is happening?” an individual familiar with the reaction from some senior White House staff members remarked to NBC News. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attributed Hunter’s presence to the July Fourth weekend but did not clarify if he met with senior advisers.
