House Republicans have taken a significant step by officially referring Hunter and James Biden to the Department of Justice for potential criminal prosecution. The referral alleges that both individuals made false statements to Congress regarding key aspects of the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
In a letter signed by three committee chairmen, including Reps. James Comer, Jim Jordan, and Jason Smith, it was stated that the alleged false statements could implicate President Biden’s knowledge of and involvement in his family’s business activities.
Specifically, Hunter Biden is accused of lying about his role at Rosemont Seneca Bohai, a business connected to the Biden family, as well as misrepresenting communications with Chinese business partners. James Biden is accused of falsehoods regarding his attendance at a meeting involving Hunter Biden, the president, and business partner Tony Bobulinski.
The criminal referral stems from both Hunter and James Biden’s testimonies before Congress during the House GOP’s impeachment investigation into President Biden. Despite these allegations, no concrete evidence connecting the president to his son’s business dealings has been publicly revealed.
