U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika recently set a tentative trial date for Hunter Biden in Delaware between June 3 and June 10 via The Epoch Times.
It has been noted that during a status conference call, David Hines, representing the government, estimated a trial would last around four days.
An earlier plea agreement for Mr. Biden collapsed in Delaware court, and he is now facing gun-related felonies for lying on a federal paperwork about his addiction and illegally carrying a firearm.
Additionally, Mr. Biden is going to trial in California on tax-related charges before Judge Mark Scarsi of the US District Court. Mr. Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, used the occasion to ask Judge Noreika to consider and make a decision on the multiple requests for dismissal that were submitted to the court. He stated his opinion that the case should not go to trial at all.
A diversion plan was previously extended to Mr. Biden, whereby he would admit guilt to the gun charges, receive probation, and the tax charges would not be pursued.
During Mr. Biden’s arraignment and not-guilty plea last summer, Judge Noreika requested clarity on the terms of the bargain, to which the parties appeared at odds. Prosecutors retracted the plea agreement, but she asked the parties to meet and return with further information.
Subsequently, the prosecutors indicated that they planned to file the tax accusations in a different court by withdrawing them from the Delaware court.
In January, Mr. Biden entered a not guilty plea to tax charges in the state of California. Judge Scarsi then scheduled a provisional trial for June 20.
Since then, Mr. Lowell has filed four requests for dismissal in Delaware court, as well as additional and comparable moves in California.
In both jurisdictions, he argued that the government had already entered into a diversion agreement and could not now bring charges. Prosecutors argue that the agreement was never signed and has been nullified. Mr. Hines said he would not respond to the motions during a status conference.
