AEW is no stranger to utilizing various tactics to garner the attention of fans. Among these tactics is the idea that their biggest stars might be leaving the company for their competition, particularly if they happen to be part of a highly decorated tag team. This was precisely the scenario that FTR found themselves in, and it was all part of the plan.

Despite attracting interest from WWE, FTR decided to remain with AEW. They had a fantastic run during the latter part of 2022, where they were covered in gold, but they also hinted at their possible exit simultaneously. This generated a lot of buzz and became a hot topic of discussion among fans.

Dave Meltzer, a prominent wrestling journalist, briefly discussed FTR’s situation with AEW during Wrestling Observer Radio. According to him, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler had been informed several months earlier that their deal with AEW was already in place, and the entire storyline about them leaving the company was just part of the angle.

Meltzer said, “It should be noted that we were told months ago that the deal was already done and everything public was an angle given the storyline with the belts vs. leaving the company, and due to that, nobody could say so publicly.”

The news that FTR was staying put with AEW was met with much excitement among fans, and everyone is curious to see what the future holds for the tag team. There are rumors that they may end up working alongside CM Punk again, and they are actively participating in meetings with Tony Khan and Chris Jericho that Punk is also attending. Hopefully, they can come to a mutually beneficial agreement that will serve the best interests of everyone involved. Only time will tell what the future holds for FTR and AEW, but one thing is for sure: they’re not going anywhere anytime soon.
