Canadian businessman Kevin O’Leary recently blasted New York Attorney General Letitia James over her efforts to seize former President Donald Trump’s assets following his recent fraud conviction via Mediaite.
It has been noted that earlier this week, James filed judgments in Westchester County to star the process of seizing Trump’s assets in the region, which include a golf resort and private estate.
The Republican nominee has the deadline for Monday to pay the $454 million bond due to the fraud trial or the attorney general may begin seizing his assets. Previously, Trump had questioned the courts to allow him to pay $100 million bond while awaiting the appeals process but he was denied earlier this month.
During an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Friday night, O’Leary claimed James violated Trump’s property rights and that the justice system in New York “is not America.”
I mean, I’m sure this AG is is giddy with excitement and and I don’t take anything away from her at all. But the collateral damage to the American brand is horrific. If you go across the world and say, what’s the number one economy on earth you want to invest in, it’s the United States of America. That’s why it is the number one economy on Earth. Transparency. Property rights are mentioned 37 times in the Constitution. Due process. Very important. Why steal someone’s asset in 27 days? Why not give them more time to come up with the cash? Forget about Donald Trump.
The number one question I have when I go to these countries to try and raise this capital is, what the hell is going on in New York? It’s and I tell them, it’s not America. It’s just an anomaly.
