Fox News host Laura Ingraham recently grilled country rapper Kid Rock if he had “lightened up on Bud Light” as the musician wore a Budweiser hat and defended the company on-air, Thursday via Mediaite.
It has been noted that during an interview with Kid Rock on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, Ingraham asked, “Now, I see you’re wearing– is that a Budweiser hat?”
She noted, “It’s a year ago, right, that you famously posted that video of I think you were shooting some Bud Light cans after the Dylan Mulvaney controversy? So you’ve lightened up on Bud Light?”
“This is a cool hat,” Kid Rock replied:
I didn’t know what hat I was wearing. We got bigger targets. I mean, when you look at what, Planet Fitness? Like what are they doing? Like, Ben and Jerry’s? I don’t want to put any targets on people’s back. Target? I talked to dudes from Bud Light or Anheuser-Busch, the CEO, the people. Like man, they messed up. It’s too bad they just won’t say it, like, “Hey, we messed up a little bit,” you know, whatever, but that’s how they’re cut, and you know, I got my answer. I don’t wanna hurt people’s jobs and stuff like that when they don’t have any dog in the fight, but there’s a whole lot more companies we should be going after for sure.
Kid Rock – who went viral for shooting a case of Bud Light while shouting, “Fuck Bud Light and fuck Anheuser-Busch” – was one of the most prominent figures in the 2023 Bud Light boycott, which saw conservatives drop the beer brand after it partnered with transgender TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
Anheuser-Busch’s sales hav plummeted $1.4 billion after the boycott and the company lost its position as America’s best-selling beer.
However, in recent months, several Republican commentators have attempted to convince conservatives to end their boycott.
A couple of months back, former President Donald Trump defended Anheuser-Busch ahead of a meeting with a Republican lobbyist for the company and said Bud Light deserved a “Second Chance.”
That same month, Fox News contributor Caitlyn Jenner urged conservatives to “move on” from the boycott, praising Anheuser-Busch’s “track record over the years.”
Kid Rock himself was also spotted drinking a can of Bud Light in August, just months after his tirade against the brand, leading to speculation that the rapper had been paid off by Anheuser-Busch.
