Mark Wahlberg Snubbed By Ben Affleck Because…

Mark Wahlberg expressed confusion about not being included in Ben Affleck’s Dunkin’ Super Bowl ad, despite the participation of fellow Bostonians Matt Damon and Tom Brady. Speaking on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Wahlberg humorously suggested he’s from the “wrong side of the tracks” and quipped about patiently waiting for the call. The Super Bowl LVIII ad showcased Affleck attempting to become a popstar, featuring Damon and Brady. Despite not being part of the commercial, Wahlberg found it very funny and hopes for a call in the future.

On February 14, Wahlberg, 52, shared his bewilderment on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, stating, “I have no idea [why I wasn’t in the commercial]. I’m from the wrong side of the tracks, I think.” Growing up in Dorchester, Wahlberg humorously acknowledged the distinction between his background and the Cambridge upbringing of Affleck, 51, and Damon, 53.

Wahlberg playfully mentioned trying to work his way into their good graces, emphasizing that he still found the commercial very funny. Despite not being part of it, he joked about patiently waiting for the call and hoped that one day they would include him in such projects.

Affleck’s Super Bowl LVIII advertisement, aired on February 11, portrayed the Gone Girl actor’s attempt to become a popstar akin to his wife Jennifer Lopez. The ad featured Affleck walking into Lopez’s studio with Damon and Brady in an orange and pink Dunkin’ tracksuit, humorously introducing themselves as the “Boston Massacre” and “DunKings.”

Despite Lopez’s apparent embarrassment, Affleck proceeded to give shoutouts to his “bandmates,” referring to Brady as “Touchdown Tommy on the keys” and highlighting Damon as his “partner” who “needs no introduction.” The commercial included a hilarious theme song, and after Lopez kicked everyone out of the studio, the trio of Brady, Affleck, and Damon was seen walking side by side on the street.

Damon later revealed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on February 13 that the Super Bowl ad was primarily Affleck’s idea, but he had contributed a perfectly-timed ad-lib. The line, left in the final cut, was said to Affleck during filming and became a humorous addition to the commercial. Despite not being Damon’s idea, he emphasized the enjoyment they had while creating the ad.
