According to Uproxx, Miley Cyrus has been opening up about various aspects of her life in her TikTok series, particularly in support of her single “Used To Be Young.” In a recent clip, she shared behind-the-scenes stories, including one about her skit for the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) involving her grandmother and Snoop Dogg.
Cyrus explained that for the VMAs performance, she had specific elements she wanted to include, such as The Flaming Lips, drag queens, her grandmother, and her pet pig. Snoop Dogg was the ideal connection for this particular skit.
In the skit, Cyrus’s grandmother was depicted doing what grandmas typically do – baking cookies. However, what her grandmother didn’t know was that the cookies were actually edibles, or cannabis-infused. Sadly, Cyrus mentioned that her grandmother would never know this fact.
Her mother, Trish, chimed in with a humorous anecdote about her mother’s reaction. She recounted that on the way to the set, when her mother was given an apron, she questioned why it had the name “Mary Jane” on it, expressing confusion since her name wasn’t Mary Jane. Trish played along, replying with a nonchalant “I don’t know, Mom.”
“I knew I really wanted a couple things in the show,” she said. “I wanted the Flaming Lips, I wanted drag queens, I wanted my grandma, and I wanted my pig in the show. So Snoop Dogg was the perfect kinda like connection.”
She continued, “It’s my grandma doing what grandmas do — baking cookies — but what she doesn’t know is that they were actual edibles. RIP, she’ll never know.”
Her mother Trish added, “Oh, except on the ride there, cause I’m bringing Mom to the set and they give her her apron, [she asked] ‘Why does this say — my name’s not Mary Jane!’ I was like, ‘I don’t know, Mom.’”
Miley Cyrus’s TikTok series has been an opportunity for her to share candid and often amusing stories from her life and career. Her single “Used To Be Young” coincides with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of her controversial album “Bangerz,” and earlier in the year, she released her eighth studio album, “Endless Summer Vacation.”
