Oscar De La Hoya, the founder of Golden Boy Promotions and a Hall of Fame boxer, has expressed his desire to represent Nate Diaz, a popular mixed martial arts fighter from California. Diaz recently ended his contract with the UFC after defeating Tony Ferguson at UFC 279, and he now has the chance to venture into the boxing world, where there will be plenty of opportunities for crossover fights. However, De La Hoya criticized Diaz’s current representation and offered his services to better negotiate his future prospects.
Diaz’s manager, Zach Rosenfield, has stated that his client will fight “multiple times” in 2023, including boxing, and has expressed interest in pursuing a trilogy with Conor McGregor and a crossover showdown with Canelo Alvarez. Diaz has also hinted at participating in Rizin, the Japanese MMA league. Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is also considering entering the boxing world, and promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom has had preliminary conversations with both Ngannou and Diaz.
“@NateDiaz209 bro if [you’re] free let me take care of your future negotiations so all these fake promoters who never put a glove on in their life [can’t] take advantage of you,” De La Hoya wrote on Thursday.
