Former President Donald Trump has been prominently displaying a large white bandage on his ear at recent appearances, following a close call with an assassination attempt during a campaign rally. The bandage, covering the top third of his right ear where a bullet grazed him in Butler County, Pennsylvania, has drawn significant attention.
According to a plastic surgeon, while ear reconstruction surgery can be complex, Trump’s injury is in a manageable area. Dr. Dennis Dass noted that reconstructing the top portion of the ear, where Trump was injured, is relatively straightforward compared to other parts of the ear. The procedure would involve removing scar tissue and using skin and cartilage from nearby areas to shape a new ear. It’s a procedure that would take one to two hours under local anesthesia, with full recovery expected in about six weeks.
Despite the surgery’s estimated cost of around $10,000, which might be a minor expense for Trump given his wealth, the bigger consideration is how such a procedure might be perceived by voters. For Trump, who has faced constant scrutiny and now a literal attempt on his life, the visible reminder of his ordeal could potentially resonate strongly with supporters as a testament to his resilience and commitment to his beliefs.
