Frankie “Francisco” Ciatso, a prominent figure in the Florida independent wrestling scene since the late 1990s, has tragically passed away at the age of 48. Originally from New York City, Ciatso, also known as Frankie Capone, was trained by Adrian Street and spent time at the WCW Power Plant.
Ciatso had a prolific wrestling career, making a name for himself in various promotions in Florida, including IPW, FIP, Ring Warriors, D1PW, ACW, World Wrestling Network, AIWF, NWA Florida, FUW, Vintage Wrestling, and Coastal Championship Wrestling. His contributions extended to Georgia, where he worked for promotions like Lariato Pro Wrestling.
Under the ring name Frankie Capone, he played a significant role in IPW, engaging in feuds with Jeff Peterson and collaborating with Marcus Dillon as part of Double Deuce Inc., holding the NWA Florida Tag Team Championship. Ciatso also made appearances on NWA TNA TV, facing off against notable names such as Abyss, Chris Daniels, Jeff Jarrett, and others.
Transitioning to WWE developmental, Ciatso appeared on Deep South Wrestling’s TV program and occasionally on WWE TV for enhancement work. Despite the shift, he remained an active and respected figure in the wrestling communities of Florida and Georgia.
Ciatso’s sudden passing shocked the local wrestling communities, PWInsider reported that he was scheduled for a WWN Proving Ground show but had to withdraw due to feeling unwell. It is believed that he passed away in his sleep overnight.
Ciatso’s wrestling career was featured in the 2019 documentary “Journeyman,” which received acclaim and won Best Documentary at the Los Angeles Film Awards. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Francisco Ciatso during this difficult time.
