SummerSlam is right around the corner and some major names are expected to make their presence felt at the Ford Field in Detroit. One name that has popped up is WWE veteran Randy Orton.
The Viper’s in-ring future up in the air. The 13-time World Champion Randy Orton has been on the shelf with a back injury. He has not been featured in WWE programming in almost a year. Fans have been speculating about his return ever since.
Meanwhile, Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that, “Randy Orton is healing up, but we haven’t heard that he’s heading back just quite yet.” That being said, he has not been cleared for a return just yet. He also hasn’t started taking bumps in the ring at this time.
PWInsider has confirmed that Randy Orton is in Detroit ahead of Summerslam. Orton has been away dealing with the injury since May last year. Orton was last involved on May 20 edition of WWE SmackDown when he and Matt Riddle dropped the RAW Tag Team Championships to The Usos. Orton was attacked by The Bloodline to be written off television following the match. He has since been dealing with a back injury that was considered significant enough for him to miss the rest of the year.
‘The Viper’ required a fusion in his lower back that would keep him out of action for an extended period of time. The surgery took place successfully and ever since he has been nursing the injury. He might return soon after rumors started floating regarding his return.
Sadly, Sean Ross Sapp is reporting that doctors have told Orton he is not cleared to return.
Despite reports of Randy Orton being in Detroit, I’m told by people close to Randy that he is nowhere near medically cleared to return at this point pic.twitter.com/zIhrG8SIHE
