Rikishi voiced his concerns on his ‘Rikishi Off The Top’ podcast, claiming that the storyline involving Uso and Ripley was poorly conceived and could negatively impact Uso’s real-life relationship. He expressed frustration over what he saw as an inappropriate plot twist and warned against potentially embarrassing scenarios.
“I have hair on the back of my neck (standing up) every time I watch him. SummerSlam, where is he? ‘I don’t know, let’s write him in, he likes Mami.’ That’s the best the writer’s got? ‘Let’s write him into a relationship with Mami’, what y’all trying to do, break his marriage up?
“You can’t put him into a good storyline so what you gonna do now? God forbid you guys try to tell them to tongue kiss each other on WWE Raw. S**t that better not happen.”
The controversy surrounding the storyline was addressed on the July 22 RAW episode, where an awkward interaction between Ripley and Dominik Mysterio pointed out about Ripley’s lack of romantic interest in Uso, aiming to clear up any misunderstandings.
In response to the backlash he received for his comments, Rikishi deleted the podcast episode from all platforms, including Spotify.
