During a recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes handed over his WrestleMania 40 main event match to The Rock, sparking significant backlash from fans and igniting a movement that continues to gain momentum. The Rock had actively advocated for the WrestleMania 40 bout with Roman Reigns, aiming to make it a true big-money affair for the event.
Speaking on the Pat McAfee show, The Rock finally addressed the outrage and backlash he faced after the SmackDown incident. He specifically targeted fans of Cody Rhodes who initiated the ‘We Want Cody’ movement, labeling them as ‘Cody Crybabies.’
“Cody, I love his passionate fans. Then, there’s the other passionate fans of Cody. They’re called, what’s that? Oh Cody Crybabies. These are grown ass men, ‘Oh Cody’s got to finish his story. Finish his story right now!’ It’s like, wait a second, ‘Hey dad, you wanna go outside and play catch? NO! Cody’s losing and I’m upset.’ The wife comes in, ‘Hey honey, do you wanna have sex? Not now, he’s got to finish his story!’”
“At the end of the day, you got the Cody Crybabies, the Cody fans and Cody himself, so there’s a clear distinction between the three.”
The Rock also said he decided to leave WWE in 2002 after putting over Brock Lesnar to be the star of the ‘next 10 years.’
The Rock’s comments highlight the division among fans and their reactions to the unfolding events in the wrestling world, particularly regarding the decision involving Cody Rhodes and The Rock at WrestleMania 40.
