According to a recent report by PageSix, Cruise has been absent from his daughter Suri’s life for several years now. The actor has reportedly not been in contact with his daughter and is not involved in her life at present.
Cruise and Holmes welcomed their daughter Suri in 2006. However, their separation in 2011 led to a growing distance between father and daughter. In fact, transcripts from Tom’s 2012 defamation lawsuit against Bauer Media revealed that he had not seen Suri for three months after his split from Holmes.
Tom Cruise has publicly acknowledged that his association with Scientology played a significant role in his strained relationship with his daughter. In a deposition during his $50 million lawsuit, he confirmed that Holmes had left him partly to protect Suri from Scientology.
In 2016, reports emerged that Scientology was once again responsible for the continued estrangement between Tom Cruise and Suri. It was said that the church’s strict rules prohibited members from associating with non-believers, and since neither Holmes nor Suri were Scientologists, Cruise could not have a relationship with them.
“Listen, when there is a divorce … things change,” Cruise told lawyers in 2013. “It’s not an ideal scene. It’s not an ideal situation.”
The situation remains complicated, and there is no clear resolution in sight. Tom Cruise’s ongoing commitment to Scientology appears to be a significant factor in his continued separation from his daughter, and it remains to be seen if the actor will make any efforts to reconcile with Suri in the future.
