Vince McMahon was the CEO of WWE before he had to step down following allegations of sexual misconduct and allegedly having paid $12 million in hush money in a huge scandal. He eventually retired from WWE for good and was replaced by his daughter Stephanie McMahon as the CEO of WWE. His son-in-law Triple H is now the Executive Vice President of Talent and Relations as well. Vince McMahon also lied about quitting WWE recently but ended up being real in the end.
Alberto Del Rio faced charges of second-degree sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. However, it seems those charges are no longer on record. Del Rio’s accuser, who is his ex-girlfriend, recently made an apology post for her ”mistakes” on Instagram. Del Rio’s brother responded to this by calling her a garbage person and a liar.
Del Rio recently had a chat with WrestlingNewsCo and stated that he has not spoken with Triple H regarding a potential comeback. Shortly after, a source told Fightful Select that WWE never seriously considered bringing Del Rio back.
“Even last year, when the old regime was still in place, Fightful was told by a WWE higher-up there was ‘no f**king way’ that Del Rio would be brought back. The same higher-up has now reiterated that sentiment, saying there were ‘never any serious conversations or pitches’ about a Del Rio return, not even from [John] Laurinaitis.”
Fightful was also told that the ‘talks’ between Del Rio and John Laurinaitis were far from a legit discussion and were mostly him wondering if a return was possible. It was also reported by them that people in WWE who could’ve made a Del Rio comeback possible were not “keen on him” even before he left the company during his second stint.
