The return of Bray Wyatt to WWE was a momentous occasion in the company’s history, and while Triple H has received praise for his role in facilitating it, the reality is that Wyatt’s return was already in the works before Vince McMahon retired. However, Wyatt’s absence from television in recent weeks has raised questions about his status leading up to WrestleMania.
Wyatt had been scheduled to face Bobby Lashley in a highly-anticipated match at WrestleMania 39, with Wyatt being the focal point of the contest despite Uncle Howdy’s involvement. However, his absence from television has cast doubt over whether the match will still take place.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the “interesting” situation surrounding Bray Wyatt’s current status. Despite being off television for a week or so, Wyatt’s WrestleMania match has yet to be officially canceled.
Meltzer noted that there was no mention of Bray Wyatt or Bobby Lashley on a recent episode of WWE RAW, leading him to speculate that Wyatt may be off the show entirely. While there have been brief flashes of Wyatt in company videos, he was supposed to be present at a recent Friday night show and was absent, leading Meltzer to suggest that Wyatt may be dealing with a health issue that has yet to be resolved.
Despite this uncertainty, it is still possible that Wyatt may return in time for WrestleMania, and WWE may be hesitant to confirm Lashley’s match against Uncle Howdy until they know for certain whether Wyatt will be able to participate. Meltzer clarified that Wyatt was never scheduled to appear on WWE RAW this week, but his absence from SmackDown the previous week and the lack of mention of his WrestleMania match on RAW are both cause for concern.
“Man, nobody knows what’s going on there. Not a mention of Bray Wyatt all night [during RAW]. Not a mention of Bobby Lashley all night.”
“I mean, it looks to me like he’s, I mean I don’t wanna say it looks like he’s off the show, but it looks like he’s off the show, because they are not mentioning his name at all. They did a little flash with that Bray Wyatt stuff on Friday’s show, so he’s with the company. There was another video where they showed him briefly, so it’s not like he’s been scrubbed from anything, but he was supposed to be at the show Friday night. So whatever it is, it’s a health issue, and the health issue hasn’t cleared up yet, and you know if they were confident that it was, they would at least have Bobby Lashley out there doing promos and stuff.”
The fact that WWE has remained silent on the issue only adds to the intrigue surrounding Bray Wyatt’s status. There is clearly more to this situation than meets the eye, and fans are eagerly awaiting any updates on whether Wyatt will be able to compete at WrestleMania.
