Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s decision to step down from his leadership position has been met with indifference by many conservative Republicans. The potential replacements mentioned for McConnell have not instilled confidence among right-wing Republicans. However, Senator Rand Paul has garnered significant grassroots support, acknowledging the increasing demand for him to enter the race.
In a tweet, Paul mentioned that thousands of people have asked him about running for Senate leadership. A subsequent social media poll conducted by Paul showed overwhelming support, with 97% opposing the status quo. High-profile figures, including Harmeet K. Dhillon, David Limbaugh, Justin Amash, and Juanita Broaddrick, expressed their desire to see Paul replace McConnell.
Paul, known for his conservative voting record with a libertarian streak, has gained attention for holding figures like Dr. Anthony Fauci accountable for their statements on COVID-19. His fiscal stance has also earned praise from the right. Utah mayor Trent Staggs, seeking the GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate, endorsed Paul, highlighting his understanding of federalism and an “America First” approach.
A Utah mayor seeking the state’s GOP nomination to replace Mitt Romney in the U.S. Senate has endorsed Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., to replace Sen. Mitch McConnell as the upper chamber’s top Republican.
Trent Staggs, who since 2017 has been the mayor of Riverton, Utah, located about 20 miles south of Salt Lake City, said in a statement to Newsmax that Paul is a lawmaker who understands “federalism” and “America First.”
“The prospect of Rand Paul leading Republicans in the Senate should excite every liberty lover in America,” Staggs said. “The uniparty has done so much damage to our country, and it’s time to reverse that. We need someone who understands federalism, someone who is America First, someone who understands we must solve our problems at home rather than nation-building. We need Rand Paul.”
YES….. PLEASE!!! We need your leadership in the Senate. https://t.co/Dfo0sdWlVn
