Trump Case Getting ‘Adjourned’ Due To Big Name

According to Conservative Brief, the recent arraignment of former President Donald Trump on federal charges related to classified documents has led New York Attorney General Letitia James to provide an update on the case filed against him by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Speaking at the Tribeca Film Festival, James indicated that the federal case will take precedence over the other cases, including the one she filed against The Trump Organization and a potential case in Fulton County, Georgia. She suggested that the other cases may need to be adjourned pending the outcome of the federal case.

“In all likelihood, I believe that my case, as well as DA Bragg and the Georgia case, will, unfortunately, have to be adjourned pending the outcome of the federal case,” James said. “So it all depends upon the scheduling of this particular case. I know there’s gonna be a flood, a flurry of motions, motion to dismiss, discovery issues, all of that. So it really all depends. Obviously, all of us want to know what Judge [Aileen] Cannon is going to do and whether or not she’s going to delay this particular case.”

While Democrats have argued that the investigations and indictment against Trump are not politically motivated, a video from James’ campaign for office resurfaced in which she specifically pledged to target Trump and his businesses. Eric Trump shared the video on Instagram, criticizing James for her supposed misconduct and stating that they have sued her for her unethical behavior.

In the video, James is seen making statements like “The days of this president are numbered,” “We will rise up together, and we will resist this president,” and “bring him down.” However, James later denied that her intention was to “get” anyone, despite CNN reporting in 2019 that she campaigned on investigating Trump and his business dealings.

James’ office has been active in subpoenaing banks for Trump Organization records, pursuing a lawsuit against the Trump Foundation, and advocating for legislation that would allow her office to pursue state charges against individuals pardoned by the president on federal charges. Her office has also taken on issues impacting the nation, occasionally clashing with the Trump administration’s policies.
