The trial, filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James, alleges that Trump and top executives at The Trump Organization conspired to inflate Trump’s net worth on financial statements, committing fraud to secure loans and make deals. In September, Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that Trump had committed fraud by inflating asset values.
Cohen, discussing the trial, claimed that Trump is on the defensive during his testimony, aware that he is losing and faces financial ruin due to potential damages. The case has the potential to have significant financial consequences for Trump and may impact The Trump Organization in New York.
Cohen anticipates that the trial could financially cripple Trump and potentially lead to further legal consequences. He suggested that aspects of the case might be remanded back to the Southern District of New York for prosecution. Trump faces a total of 91 charges across four indictments, including allegations related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and charges related to hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Cohen, however, confidently asserted that Trump will be found guilty and held accountable on all 91 charges.
