According to Mediaite, the weight of legal charges against former President Donald Trump has reached an astonishing total, with the cumulative maximum sentences for his current indictments amounting to a staggering 712 years and 6 months in prison.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis made a significant announcement during a press conference on August 14, 2023, unveiling a fresh indictment against Trump. This latest legal action has brought forth 13 counts against him, alongside 18 co-defendants named in the indictment. The deadline for Trump and his co-defendants to surrender for arrest and arraignment is set for August 25.
The indictment levies various charges against Trump, each carrying its own maximum penalty, as detailed below:
- Violation Of The Georgia Rico Act – Maximum Penalty: 20 Years
- Solicitation Of Violation Of Oath By Public Officer – Maximum Penalty: 3 years
- Conspiracy To Commit Impersonating A Public Officer – Maximum Penalty: 2.5 years
- Conspiracy To Commit Forgery In The First Degree – Maximum Penalty: 7.5 years
- Conspiracy To Commit False Statements And Writings – Maximum Penalty: 2.5 years

While these individual counts collectively result in an astounding 71.5 years, it is important to note that in practical terms, the likelihood of Trump serving the entirety of these maximum sentences consecutively is slim. Courts typically do not impose the maximum sentence for each count, consecutively, on convicted defendants.
This recent indictment adds to Trump’s existing legal challenges, encompassing a total of 91 charges. When considering the maximum penalties associated with all these charges, the cumulative total soars to an even higher 713 years in prison, rounding up.
In addition to the Fulton County charges, Trump faces an array of legal proceedings in New York, with 34 felony counts related to hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, as well as 37 counts arising from the investigation into his retention of classified documents under the Espionage Act. A superseding indictment by Special Counsel Jack Smith introduced three additional charges against Trump, including unlawful retention of National Defense Information and two new obstruction counts.
