Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith recently provided an update on her battle with alopecia. She has revealed that her hair is trying to “make a come back [sic].”
Taking to Instagram Monday, the “Girls Trip” actress shared two selfies with her 11.4 million followers on the platform as she revealed that her hair has grown.
“This here hair is act’n like it’s try’n a make a come back [sic]. Still have some trouble spots but — we’ll see,” she captioned in the post, adding, “Slide 1: Past. Slide 2: Present.”
In the first snap, Pinkett Smith rocks a shaved head, while in the second she shows off a short bleached-blond pixie. She was brought to everyone’s attention at the 2022 Oscars, when host Chris Rock made a controversial joke about her bald head.
In one of the most controversial moments of the awards show, the comedian made a crack that Pinkett Smith was ready to star in “G.I. Jane 2” thanks to her closed-shaved look.
The comment prompted her husband, Will Smith, to storm the stage, slap Rock, and say, “Leave my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.”
Prior to the dramatic outburst, the 51-year-old has been open about her hair loss “struggle,” revealing her diagnosis with the autoimmune disorder in 2018.
“I’ve been having issues with hair loss,” she said on “Red Table Talk” at the time. “It was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh my God, am I going bald?’”
