WrestleMania 40 Main Event Getting Changed?

There had been a lot of speculation regarding the main event of WWE WrestleMania 40. Cody Rhodes was amid the speculation and there were last-minute adjustments. ‘The American Nightmare’ was slated to square off against Roman Reigns in the marquee match of the event but WWE pulled off a massive twist putting The Rock in the mix.

WWE dropped hints at the possibility of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stepping into the spotlight to face Reigns instead. However, just when it seemed the cards were reshuffling, the WWE reverted to its original plan of Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Cody Rhodes himself made it official during the WrestleMania 40 kickoff press event and made it clear that he would indeed be challenging Roman Reigns on the grandest stage of them all.

The Rock was enraged after Rhodes mentioned the Samoan lineage, and delivered a slap, injecting an unexpected layer of tension into the impending showdown.

Relief was palpable among fans eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated clash they had been clamoring for. However, amidst the excitement, caution lingered like a shadow due to the uncertainty surrounding the main event plans, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.

“There is an issue with different people with different ideas and how they’re gonna get it out there. They know it turned into a mess and at the same time it’s not a mess unless it’s gonna hurt them business-wise. Whatever they end up, whether it’s that tag or whatever they do, it certainly doesn’t look like it’s going to be Rock vs. Roman but they’d switch that next week too. I mean, there’s nothing wrong, nothing announced.”
