WWE Diva Suffered Sad Racism At Live Show

As with any public figure, WWE Superstars often find themselves in situations where they have to handle unpleasant comments or actions from people in the audience. Unfortunately, this was the case for IYO Sky, who was mistakenly referred to as Chinese instead of Japanese by a fan during an NXT live event.

The incident was recently discussed by IYO Sky and her Damage CTRL teammate, Dakota Kai, during an interview with Ring The Belle. Dakota Kai recalled the moment and noted that the fan in question was already behaving inappropriately. IYO Sky then corrected the fan in the middle of the match and put him in his place.

While the incident is certainly memorable, it’s unfortunately not an isolated case. As a person of color, IYO Sky has likely faced similar situations in the past. However, she handled the situation with grace and professionalism, demonstrating the kind of poise and composure that WWE Superstars are known for.

“Oh! Remember? NXT? That guy was being an asshole anyways. What are you doing? Get out of there. She was right to put you in your place bro.”

IYO Sky then added, “Oh yeah, I remember that, yeah. We can’t judge anything like race, you know? Race, yeah.” Sadly, this is a situation she’s probably dealt with before.

It’s important to remember that derogatory comments based on race, ethnicity, or any other characteristic are never acceptable. IYO Sky’s ability to handle the situation in a respectful but firm manner is a testament to her character and serves as an example for all of us to follow.
