Pro wrestling is known for its larger-than-life characters and captivating stories, but not all tales that circulate in the industry are entirely accurate. One such story involves Brian Knobbs, a professional wrestler best known as one-half of the tag team known as the Nasty Boys, allegedly getting into a physical altercation with Hollywood actor Matt Damon. However, Booker T, a renowned wrestler and commentator, recently addressed this story and shed some light on its veracity.
During an episode of his Hall of Fame radio show, Booker T decided to tackle the long-standing rumor surrounding Brian Knobbs and Matt Damon. Surprising as it may be, Booker T took the opportunity to discuss this unexpected topic.
Booker T confirmed that the story of Knobbs beating up Damon is, in fact, true and not just a legend. Although he didn’t recall the exact location of the incident, he emphasized that his brother, Stevie Ray, was present as a witness to the altercation. According to Booker T, Knobbs got into a physical confrontation with Damon at a bar. At the time, Damon was relatively young and likely not widely recognized, which may have played a role in the incident.
“Knobbs beat him up, that’s a true story, that’s not a legend. Somewhere, I can’t remember where it was … look, I don’t know exactly what happened, but my brother was there. Knobs beat up Matt Damon in a bar. The thing is, they probably didn’t know who Matt Damon was, because he was young at the time.”
Booker T acknowledged that he usually refrains from recounting stories if he wasn’t present, but in this case, he had firsthand confirmation from his brother. While Damon had not yet portrayed some of his most iconic roles at the time of the incident, it seems that his face didn’t ring a bell with the pro wrestlers in that Boston bar. Regardless of whether the story has reached legendary status within pro wrestling circles, Stevie Ray’s account lends credibility to the claim that Damon indeed endured a physical beating at the hands of Brian Knobbs.
