Hulk Hogan, a wrestling legend known for teasing a final wrestling match over the years, has now definitively stated that it’s not going to happen. Hogan’s last official match occurred during TNA/IMPACT’s Maximum IMPACT tour of England in January 2012, where he participated in a six-man tag team win.
Despite the numerous “what if” scenarios and hints about a last match, Hogan talked to Chris Vlan Vliet and cited the toll that his previous surgeries have taken on his body as the primary reason for his decision. He acknowledged that he had wanted to have that one last match but had to abandon the idea due to his physical condition.
Hogan expressed his desire for a final match, even mentioning that he had considered the possibility of it happening at WrestleMania 25 in Orlando. He revealed that there had been discussions about a match with John Cena at the event, and both he and Vince McMahon were actively involved in planning. However, Hogan’s back issues resurfaced during a phone call with Vince McMahon, leading to the cancellation of those plans.
Hogan explained that during the call with Vince, he experienced severe back pain, a recurring issue that had already required multiple surgeries. Consequently, he had to undergo yet another surgery immediately. This incident effectively put an end to the potential match against Cena, and the idea of Hogan’s final match gradually faded away.
“I would have loved to have had that last match. But now it’s completely out of the picture. You know, I’m just too beat up from the surgeries,” Hogan said. “I think if I took a couple of bumps, you probably have to cut up me again. But no, I really wanted to have that last match. [Against who?] I wasn’t sure you know, I had I think it was WrestleMania 25 in Orlando.
Vince had me all hooked up with Cena and I said I’d do it. And Vince and I were talking every week and we were putting the plans together you know, like the old days where I was in the office every day him and I were talking every day. And all of a sudden I’m on the phone with Vince I was like, ‘Oh my God. Oh, my back went out’ when I was talking to Vince on the phone. I just had back surgery number three or four at that time,” Hogan explained, “and I had to go right in immediately and get cut up. So that was it for that but I thought that was going to be my last match and then you know, but that never happened and then it just kind of like faded away
