WWE has seen many people step away from the ring. There were some who have been released by the company, while others have decided to take a hiatus from professional wrestling. Ronda Rousey joins the list of those wrestlers who are enjoying their time outside of the squared circle.
‘The Baddest Women on the Planet’ recently posted some images on Instagram with words of the fictional character Bernie Lumen from the Disney/Pixar animated film, “Elemental” (2023), that has got the world talking. She wrote:
“Sorry, I couldn’t hear you through my retirement.”
Ronda has been out of the WWE after she was taken out by Shayna Baszler. Baszler is a close friend of Rousey and this was done on a storyline basis. Ronda wasn’t seen in any capacity after this moment, but this new post suggests that she may have hung up her boots inside the squared circle.
According to SEScoops, Ronda Rousey won an Olympic medal in judo at the 2008 summer games. This medal win led to her becoming a pro Mixed Martial Arts fighter in August 2010. Her run continued for two years, and in November of 2012, Ronda joined UFC. She brought light to the women’s MMA and made it mainstream.
Ronda had a record-setting title reign as the Women’s Bantamweight Champion. Her performance was exemplary and she continued to entertain as well as impress people with her work. In December 2016, she left it and switched gears to professional wrestling.
January 2017 saw her sign full time with the WWE. It was during her time in the wrestling juggernaut that Ronda won the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice, and Raw Women’s Championship once. Rousey had an intersting run as the Women’s Tag Team Champion, but it was later retired.
‘Never say Never’ is a word in the world of professional wrestling, and we don’t know what it would take for Ronda to lace up those boots again to return to the squared circle. This can just be an assumption, but it looks like Ronda wants to live a humble life with her family and we would have to respect her decision.
