On the January 30 episode of 205 Live, Daniel Bryan introduced the WWE Universe to Rockstar Spud, now Drake Maverick, as the new general manager for the cruiserweights.

Maverick quickly addressed the Cruiserweight title situation, letting the fans know that a tournament will take place over the next few months. Maverick then said the final match of the tournament will take place at Wrestlemania.
The former Spud told the WWE Universe that the tournament will begin tonight, with Gran Metalik taking on Cedric Alexander and the inaugural Cruiserweight champion TJP against the inaugural United Kingdom champion Tyler Bate.
